The story of Cleveland show, an American animated series revolves around the life of Cleveland Brown who was the neighbor of Peter Griffin. He has moved to Stoolbend, VA where he has begun a new life with his old high school friend, Donna and her two children. The show has been produced by 20th century FOX television in association with Fuzzy Door productions and the first show premiered on 27 September 2009.
Spanning over two seasons the show has finished 44 episodes with 22 episodes each season and has been popular. The show has been created by the trio of Seth Macfarlane, Mike Henry and Richard Apparel and it has been a nice attempt. The Cleveland show basically is a spin off from Family Guy, another popular animated TV series.
The feedback and the ratings are hugely varied as far as the Cleveland show is concerned. While some people have thoroughly enjoyed the show and rated it amongst the best comic shows on the television, there are others who feel that the show does not make sense and does not make you laugh and it should be stopped. The comparison that this show faces with Family guy is not fair for the show and it clearly is a disadvantage for the show that it is being compared to such shows at an early stage.
The step daughter of Cleveland, Roberta has been voiced by Reagan Gomez though the character was voiced by Nia Long in the first season. Cleveland Jr. has been voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson. In fact Richardson has also dubbed for Cleveland’s next door neighbor Lester Krinklesac.
Robert Gromez has given her voice to Roberta who is the step daughter of Cleveland, from second season whereas Nia Long gave the voice in the first season. Richardson has dubbed for Cleveland’s next door neighbor Listle Krinklesac as well as for Cleveland Jr. Certain characters who have a one time appearance are mostly dubbed by Henry.
The show has offensiveness, randomness, colorful characters and musical elements, something which are always present in Macfarlane’s animated shows. Whether the show succeeds like other animated shows of Macfarlane will be decided later but the show has slowly but surely found its place. In fact the show was also nominated at the 36th People’s choice awards in the category of best new TV comedy.

Fun lovers will be delighted with the new series of 20th Century Fox jointly produced with Fuzzy Doors Productions. It is an animation series more of a satire than comedy called “The Cleveland Show”. The father of this animation series is Mr. Seth MacFarlane whose other popular animation creations are – Family Guy and American Dad. The difference in this show is the characters, who are African Americans. The male protagonist here is a middle aged black man called Cleveland Brown. He is a divorced man with a 14 year old son, Cleveland Jr. The story starts with the intention of Cleveland to move to California with his only son. On his way to California. Coincidently Cleveland meets Donna on whom he had a crush on high school. They met on the state of Virginia at a fictional town called Stoolbend. Donna is a single mother of two children. A daughter in her teens called Roberta and a 5 year old son called Rallo. The real story starts with the marriage of Cleveland and Donna.
The creator of the lead character Mr. MacFarlane tries to show the well known mental setup of a middle aged male who lives in the suburb of America. Cleveland is bewildered with the generation gap and can’t understand the new generation. He is sluggish and not much expert in raising up his son.
Although the center part of the animation is a black family but still the main point focused here is not racism. Nor the creators try to show all the black people as all square good human beings. Here good people with good qualities and common people with flaws in their nature are depicted clearly as we can find in the real world. The moral subjects are dealt with a direct approach sometimes in a very wrong way so that the audience find the animation hilarious.
The show contains various characters with funny habits. Though the 5 year old boy Rallo seems to become perverted in so early stage in life but still his double meaning dialogues tickle the stomach muscles of the audience. Rallo’s elder sister Roberta is just like any other casual American teenager girl. If she is asked about how did she spend the whole day, whatever her experience would be she always starts her reply with the words, “That ain’t the View”. Cleveland has a neighbor called Lester. Lester lets everyone know that it is in his knowledge that a black American has been elected to the white House as the president of America. The added fun in the series is that it has a talking bear as a character.
From the starting of the series whenever you watch it you can feel that jokes are getting created every now and then. If you miss one then the next one is ready to fly towards you.
The persons who gave their voices to the different characters are Mike Henry who is a white man dubbed for black character Cleveland Brown. Kevin Michael Richardson dubbed for Lester and Cleveland Jr. Sanna Lathan for Donna, Reagan Gomez-Preston for Roberta, Seth MacFarlane for Tim, Mike Henry again for Rello the kid. Linda Lamontagne is in the responsibility for casting in the show. Walter Murphy is in music direction and the editing part of this comedy animation is handled by Kirk Benson.
