Push is an action Sci-Fi thriller that was released on February 6, 2009. It is a film starring Dakota Fanning, Chris Evans, Camilla Belle, Cliff Curtis, and Djimon Nounsou. It was written by David Bourla and directed by Paul McGuigan. Due to its violence, strong and intense language, smoking and teenage drinking scenes it is rated PG-13. Part of what makes this film so unique is the background; it was actually filmed on location in Hong Kong.

Push centers on a group of ordinary, common people, each of whom figure out they have their own special super power. These are the “good guys” that band together in order to attempt and conquer a corrupt, wicked government agency, the American Division. There is a diverse range of psychic powers that both the “good guys” and the “bad guys” are equipped with. Watchers can see specific parts of the future and this knowledge effects the decisions they make, causing the future to change rapidly. Movers can manipulate still objects and are able to use this power in order to strengthen their attack power. Pushers have the capability of instilling memories and thoughts into other people, which gives them the power to make others do whatever they want. The more power the Pusher is equipped with, the more people they can operate at one time. Bleeders, also known as Screechers or Screamers, give off sonic vibrations that can rupture enemy’s blood vessels.

Sniffs can track people and object’s locations, and Shifters can bend light patterns on objects so they look like something that they aren’t. Wipers can erase an enemy’s memory, either briefly or permanently. Shadows block other psychics visions, and the more experience they have the more they care able to block. Lastly, psychic surgeons are able to heal broken down and injured cells.

Although Dakota Fanning and Chris Evans give their regular stellar performances, the supporting cast has been ridiculed for being somewhat weak. Overall, characters were poorly developed and the plot of the story was difficult to follow at times. The movie was overall poorly received by both critics and fans alike. Only 21% of critics gave the film a positive rating.

Push opened in 2,313 different theaters in the sixth spot and grossed $10,079,109 its opening weekend. It passed its budget cost of $38,000,000 by its third month. It was based on a comic book mini-series written by Marc Bernardin and Adam Freeman that serves as a prequel for the film.

Where the Wild Things Are Movie is a different kind of fantasy entertainer in which a nine year old boy gets to become the most celebrated king of an island where the wild things inhabit. The entire movie is a very interesting fantasy one which brings stirs the emotions of the audience and connects with them. Rachel Getting Married, starting Anne Hathaway, Bill Irwin, Debra Winger, Rosemarie DeWitte, and Anisa George, was directed by Jonathon Demme and written by Jenny Lumet. It is a romantic drama film that was released in select theaters in October 2008. The film was filmed in Connecticut in late 2007 and is rated “R” for thematic content, foul language, and sexuality. Rachel Getting Married is focused on a daughter, Kym (played by Hathaway), who is estranged from her family but returns home for her sister’s (Rachel, played by Deweitt) wedding to her fiance, Sydney, after being released from substance-abuse rehab for a few days. When she returns she throws the family into upheaval, bringing to the surface long-simmering tensions between many of her relations. These confrontations prove to be both heartbreaking and hilarious.

Going home is always difficult for a recovering addict, and possibly even more so when the visit only lasts a few days. This is a perfect description of Kym’s visit. Although the sisters have affection for each other, their relationship is still extremely strained.

Rachel thinks her father focuses on Kym too much and is consumed with why her father acts this way. Their father is worried about Kym but doesn’t understand the problems his close relationship with her is causing between the two sisters.

It upsets Kym a great deal when she discovers that her sister has picked her friend Emma (played by George) to be her matron of honor. Kym thinks Rachel should have picked her, and eventually Rachel does change her mind and replaces Emma with Kym.

In addition to all of their other problems, the sisters have to put up with their mother, who is very self-centered and only worried about herself, much at the expense of her two daughters. As if the current problems weren’t enough, the family must deal with a tragedy that happened years earlier for which they find Kym somewhat responsible.

Rather than adopting a soundtrack the traditional way, director Demme invited musicians on set to compose live in an attempt to support the storyline of the film. The musicians, a Middle Eastern ensemble that were New-York based, were free to play whatever they wanted whenever the mood struck and were told to completely ignore the camera.
