Torchwood the TV show would be a Britain science fiction series that has gone for 3 seasons thus far and is planning on many more. This series have been made by the writer Russell T. Davies, he has also written many other series like Doctor Who, Queer as Folk, and Casanova.

The science fiction series tells the story of a fictionalized institute named as Torchwood Institute where people deal with various extraterrestrial activities that take place on our planet. The institute is set in the beautiful setting of Cardiff where researchers spend a lot of time figuring out how to use the alien technology they’ve found.

Remarkably, Torchwood Institute is both sponsored and overseen by Queen Victoria. She established the research organization to help humans gain a greater understanding of aliens and their technology. Torchwood serves a greater purpose, however, in allowing this knowledge to prepare people for combat with any force from an outside world.

The team of investigators is headed by the Torchwood Three who are Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper and Owen Harper whose role in the series are played by John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Burn Gorman respectively. Earlier the group was supposed to be headed by five instead of three and the other two characters were those of Toshiko Sato a computer specialist and Ianto Jones who is responsible for all administrative duties, their roles in the series are played by actors Naoko Mori and Gareth David-Lloyd.

In addition to the Torchwood Three, another key character is that of Rhys Williams, who is played by Kai Owen. Rhys lives with Gwen and is her long-time boyfriend; the two eventually marry. Rhys was initially unaware of his girlfriend’s mysterious job. He learned the truth in season two of the series.

As a result of its immense popularity, Torchwood is aired in the United Kingdom as well as multiple other countries throughout the world. The United States, Sweden, Malaysia, Serbia, Portugal, New Zealand, Japan, Germany, France, Canada, and Australia now regularly feature this show.
