Stephenie Meyer’s everyday life altered substantially on June 2, 2003. The stay-at-home mom of three youthful sons woke up from a dream featuring seemingly very real characters which she couldn’t get out of her mind.
She had the following to say regarding the dream she had this night:
“While I had a million things to attend to, I stayed in my bed, thinking of the dream. Unwillingly, I eventually got up and then did the important necessities, after which put everything which I actually could upon the back burner and sat myself down in front of the laptop to write – a thing I had not achieved in such a long time that I pondered how come I was bothering.”
Meyer formulated the plot during the day whilst taking swim classes, and wrote it out later that night the moment the house was silent.
3 months afterward she concluded her very first novel, Twilight. With the help of enticement coming from her elder sister (the only other individual that realized she had crafted a work of fiction), Meyer handed over her manuscript to various literary agencies.
Twilight was picked out of a slush heap at Writer’s House and in due course made its way to the publishing firm Little, Brown where-by everyone fell at once in love with the gripping saga of the troubled loving couple.
Twilight was one of 2005′s most discussed works of fiction and within weeks of its release the book debuted at number 5 on The New York Times bestseller list. Amid its various accolades, Twilight was named an “ALA Top Ten Books for Young Adults,” an Amazon.com “Best Book of the Decade…So Far”, and also a Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year.
The highly-anticipated sequel, New Moon, was first introduced in September 2006, and spent in excess of 25 weeks at the number 1 position on The New York Times bestseller list.
In 2007, Eclipse was first available and devotees made the Twilight Saga a world-wide sensation! Along with midnight parties and vampire-themed proms the excitement for the series continued to grow.
On May 6, 2008, Little, Brown and Company launched The Host, Meyer’s much anticipated novel for adults which debuted at number 1 on The New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller listings.
