Where the Wild Things Are Movie is a different kind of fantasy entertainer in which a nine year old boy gets to become the most celebrated king of an island where the wild things inhabit. Max Records plays the key role of the boy Max and the journey of max towards the island is the major plot of the story which is told as an adventurous drama.

As Max’s mom and sister upset him he gets fed up and leaves home on a journey to an unknown place. He just wanders off and finds himself a boat in which he sails off to the island. In the island he gets dressed in a wolf costume and just roams about. It is now when he is attacked by seven large creatures from the jungle.

Max who has got himself into a tricky situation lies that he is the king who has come to bring about harmony to the island. With this he tries to escape from getting eaten up by the creatures. He also lies that he has some special magical powers. In this process he wins the hearts of the wild things and realises at last how he has put his mother into a sad situation and hence decides to return home.

The entire movie is a very interesting fantasy one which brings stirs the emotions of the audience and connects with them. This was the thing which made the movie a success and also got it a position within the top ten movies of the year 2009. The movie is a perfect combination of both live action and computerised animation.

The direction of the movie was done by Spike Jonze and the movie was promoted with adults in mind rather than children unlike other fantasy films. Although the film had a grand opening it dint manage to bring a very good profit and hence it dint make the $100 million which was put for its production. The movie was released in Australia, Ireland, U.K and Germany and it is set for release in Russia this year.

The film had not generated much profit for the producers but was appreciated for bringing the “otherworldly” effect it to the viewers. The film obtained a 73% fresh rating which was quiet a credit for all the innovations they had put forth in the movie. The film was criticised for the boring look it had towards the end of the movie.

Though being a fantasy movie which is for children the movie had many scenes which imparted adult feelings from children like that of violence and threat. This was a main reason the film had a parental guidance recommendation in theatres. This point was made clear by the director who has said that this film was about children and was not made solely for them.
