Author: There is always a ‘curse’ hanging over a sequel. They are usually duds at the box-office. But Ice Age movie seems to have broken the tradition. The animation is awe inspiring and a plethora of new characters. Now the directors in Hollywood will be more enthusiastic to bring out other sequels too. Ice Age is primarily a flick for the kids but the adults can enjoy it too.
The cast is familiar – Manny (Ray Romano), Ellie (Queen Latifah), Diego (Denis Leary) and of course, the adorable Sid (John Leguizamo). If Ice Age 2 was all about glaciers and meltdowns, the third is occupied with love and mating thereby creating a spring like atmosphere. We find the mammoths, Manny and Ellie, very excited and as they are expecting their first baby. Manny spends most of the time by the side of his pregnant wife. This creates a sense of insecurity in the minds of Diego – the saber toothed tiger and Sid – the faltering but lovable sloth. While Diego is thinking of leaving; Sid, on the other hand, decides to starts a family of his own.
But Sid has a problem. He needs a she-sloth to cohabit which is difficult to find. He chances upon some abandoned eggs and decides to steal them. But little does he know that these eggs belong to a forever annoyed mother dinosaur that arrives on the scene shortly. Within hours of hatching from the eggs the baby dinos exhibit alarming mammal eating tendencies. The T-Rex mother loses no time in grabbing the babies and the Sid by their neck and takes them into an underground world which is inhabited by dinosaurs, carnivorous plants and a weasel named Buck.
Then the real adventure begins with Manny and other running to save Sid. This part of the animated film is the most addictive with lots of fun element and action thrown in. You can see a lot of adorable baby dinos and the scenes are depicted in vibrant colors which create a visual extravaganza for the audience. We come across some particulars which are previously seen in the earlier versions like balancing rocks and rushing water.
In case you are wondering, the film has not forgotten Scrat the squirrel who is all the more energized to run after the elusive acorn. But this time he has a rival! A female squirrel, scratte, offers a romantic angle to the quest.
Hollywood has raised the bar this time with world-class animation. The mammoths look life like and you are left wondering how beautiful it will look on a LED TV. The dinosaurs look a bit fake and reveal a lack of reality but this shortcoming is well forgotten during the course of the movie.
Ice Age movie is renowned for world class action and comedy scenes. This claim is further strengthened by the last hour of the movie with edge of the seat scenes. But I am not going to give away the ending so easily. Go and check out the movie in the nearest theater or if you prefer you can watch Ice Age online free. G-Force movie, is a family flick written by Cormac and Marianne Wibberley, the husband and wife team who have delivered many hits like National Treasure, Bad Boys II etc. This movie will definitely be a hit with the kiddies and the grown-ups too. The difficult part might be to get the kids to give up the idea of keeping rodents as pets after watching this movie.
The movie begins with a mole and three guinea pigs receiving training to speak like humans through some devices that are fitted in them. Together, they form the formidable G-squad who have been trained as spies. Ben, (Zack Galifianakis) a scientist who works for the government on the low level is responsible for training them. Besides this he also specializes in training insects to carry in to small spaces, tiny cameras and is also considered to be the lord of the flies.
Darwin (Sam Rockwell’s voice), the lead pig is to go on a mission assigned to him by Ben. He is to be assisted by Juarez (voiced by Penelope Cruz) a latina, feisty guinea pig and Blaster (voiced by Tracy Morgan)a guinea pig who is African-American and Speckles, the mole (Nicholas Cage), the tech guyin all missions. Speckles also plays the role of talking the guinea pigs through any mission as he gets to electronically survey the vicinity that needs to be broken in to before the guinea pigs move in. His ethnic background remains undisclosed.
Ben suspects Sabar, (Bill Nighy) an industrialist who is a billionaire of scheming to conquer the world through his electrical appliances. Therefore he sends his squad on a mission which goes awry. This leads the FBI (Will Arnett and co) to close down Ben’s zoo and gives all the zoo animals to a pet shop. The guinea pigs meet a crazy hamster (Steve Buscemi), who partially is a ferret and Hurley (voiced by Jon Favreau) another guinea pig that is chubby while in the pet shop. They help each other in their escape from the pet shop and seek to avenge this wrong together.
The rodents somehow manage to escape the pet shop along with their friends and head toward Sabar to foil his deadly plans. The action picks up from here on. The chase scenes will keep you on the edge of the seat. Even in all the running and chasing, the one liners come flying out thick and fast. The pace of the story is peppy.
